I had to run out to Stillwater today so I went up the river and snapped a photo of the farmed ice across the river. Then I went down the line on the way back finally stopping at Franklin where I did a bit of bouldering before going back to the office.

The area, although an hour away from Minneapolis, is fantastic. Red Barn CX is held at the Erickson Brothers Tree Farm in Taylor's Falls, MN. It's a great piece of land for an event like this. Planners are blessed with bountiful acreage with which to twist a race course through.

Generally when one thinks about mountaineering they have visions of climbers roped together crossing a high, snow covered ridge line or cresting a giant peak in the Himalayas. They don’t think about Minnesota. Minnesota is for fishing. We’re the land of 10,000 lakes not 10,000 peaks or 10,000 ft. peaks.
