I had to run out to Stillwater today so I went up the river and snapped a photo of the farmed ice across the river. Then I went down the line on the way back finally stopping at Franklin where I did a bit of bouldering before going back to the office.

On Tuesday the Stillwater city council unanimously approved a proposal for a marathon to take place during Lumberjack Days on Memorial Day Weekend. The marathon will start and finish in Stillwater and feature a full marathon, 20-mile race, half marathon and a 12k race.

The Fourth annual Sandstone Ice Climbing Festival will be taking place this weekend at the Robinson Park Quarry in Sandstone, MN. There are a number of ice climbing clinics and two skijoring clinics that will take place during the festival. They also have clinics on sharpening ice tools and lighted climbing in the quarry on Friday night from 5 p.m. - 9p.m.
I went out on Saturday for a bit of bouldering around and returned again on Sunday with my roommate. On the way to the Brickyards on Sunday we stopped and took a peek at Shepard Road and it looks like its coming in nicely. There was a group just finishing setting up to climb when we got there.

On Monday night the final approval for a Marathon in Stillwater, MN was put on hold to get more input from area business owners and residents. A vote may come on December 16.

This weekend a bunch of Minnesotans, Wisconsinites, and other midwesterners broke from their usual apathy towards their neighbor, Iowa, and flocked there to mix it up with the corn state's best Cyclocross racers.

The latest buzz on running in Minnesota is the possibility of a Marathon in Stillwater, MN. If approved the inaugural marathon will be held on May 24, 2009 during the annual Lumber Jack Days. On some blogs people are raising concerns about how close the date is to Grandmas Marathon on June 20th.
