Critical Mass In Vancouver - Video

Critical Mass is pretty much riding in every major metropolitan area now. Here in Minneapolis I've seen as many as 500 cyclists in a single mass rolling out of Loring Park on the west side of the downtown area. It happens on the last Friday of the month in most places and starts right at the height of rush hour traffic.

Some people agree with and others don't. Some really hate it. Here in Minneapolis it seems that the police dept. has decided to look at it as a bike parade once a month. They have a troop of officers following on bicycles and in squad cars to keep the peace between driver and the bicyclists. At this point it's safe to say that it isn't going away. If anything it will probably increase as more cyclists hit the road due to concerns on gas prices, their carbon footprint and wars being waged over oil.

I'm going to hold back on my opinion of the monthly event but here is an interesting video from Vancouver, Canada. One thing you might want to note in the video is that the people who seem to be complaining are generally from older generations. It could have been edited that way but my guess is that bicycling is becoming more accepted as a form of transportation from the new generations.
